In mostly every scene that we see Kay Adams in, she is wearing scarlet clothing (scarf, hat, dress, coat or shoes). She sticks out from the rest in all of the scenes. However, in the scene where Michael comes back to ask for her hand she isn’t wearing scarlet, instead her students are wearing scarlet attire. Discuss why you think she isn’t wearing scarlet clothing during this scene or Why the students are wearing scarlet attire?

I found the exact same pattern. I believe that the scene where she is not wearing scarlet it is symbolic of her being welcomed into the family and not being the outsider. I think the students wearing scarlet are foreshadowing for her children to come with Micheal and how they will never be fully accepted because they are not completely Sicilian.
